Situated next door to Lawrence Area School grounds Goldfields Kindergarten is a mixed age setting that provides education and care for children 6 months to 5 years. We belong to a rural community that is reflected within our large open environment. Our community of family/whānau are active participants within our centre in a variety of ways, this supports the teachers ability to work towards their long term vision.
You are welcome to come in at anytime to meet the team and see our centre in action.

Session Times
Monday to Thursday 9am -3pm

At Goldfields kindergarten…
We believe in the importance of whanaungatanga (this includes respectful relationships between all our community stakeholders) as being the driving force behind the learning for children in our centre, in accordance with our curriculum document Te Whāriki.

Our goal is to ensure children are supported to develop independence, respect, empathy, self help skills, the ability to cope with change and to take responsibility; to develop the confidence to be inquisitive, to investigate experiment and give it a go. We are committed to ensure children are competent in their ability to communicate their ideas, feelings and understandings.

Children will engage in a variety of experiences both from the children’s interests, individual goals and planned group experiences that include pre literacy and numeracy skills, physical skills, transitioning, problem solving and imagination with a focus on sustained play and concentration.

As a team, in partnership with whānau members within the community, we endeavour to uphold Māori tikanga and to encourage the use of te reo Māori to ensure children experience our rich bicultural heritage within a natural environment.
With this in mind, our vision is that children leaving Goldfields kindergarten have acquired knowledge that learning is fun.

Our Teachers & Families work very hard to raise funds for our Kindergartens environment, resources and equipment.  We couldn't have the fantastic environments without all there hard work.  But we also are very thankful for our local businesses who support us with their time, produce and grants.
