Your Family & Whanau

Forming a partnership
Kindergarten is all about partnership and family and we welcome you and your Whanau into our wider kindergarten family. Working together we can really make a difference for your child.

Kindergarten gives you the opportunity to meet other families in the area and many lifelong friendships have started over sharing a coffee at the kindergarten and getting to know each other.

There are many different ways you can get involved in kindergarten life and we welcome as much or as little time as you can spare.

Our aim is to work in partnership with you. We recognise you as the main educator of your son/daughter who comes to us with a history of experiences, knowledge and skills that they have gained at home. We would love to get to know about what they are good at and what they enjoy so we can support your child to continue on and build on what they already know.

How to get involved

We welcome your involvement in kindergarten life, we rely on volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of the kindergartens and we appreciate any time you can give us however small.
  • This can be in the form of parent help and being involved during sessions, reading stories, pushing swings, and talking to a group of children or
  • as a parent you have valuable skills that you may like to share with the
group as we are all in this together and sharing of knowledge and skills
through the generations is how we all learn as a community.
  • Providing practical assistance like mending broken toys or helping out with the gardening or taking the washing home
  • Joining a parent group organising family events and fundraising activities to support the buying of quality resources for your children.
We have an open door policy and invite all parents to participate within the programme at any time you have available.

Individual Learning

If you child has any special learning needs or developmental needs we will work closely with you to provide the very best learning opportunities possible. We do have connections with outside agencies and specialists who can offer additional support for you and your child if needed. Please feel free to talk to us if you have any concerns.

Talk to the teachers at your kindergarten about how you can get involved!
